The history of the Wesbroom and Westbroom name
My great-great-grandfather was John Wesbroom, born around 1810 in Kirby le Soken, Essex.
Because it's an unusual name, I decided to do a "one-name study", finding out whatever I could about the origins of the name and the present-day descendants. I have been helped by a large number of people who also have Wesbroom ancestors, and by all the online resources which have made this sort of research so much easier.
Is it Wesbroom or Westbroom? The spelling has always varied, often depending on the whims of registrars and census enumerators, but today Wesbrooms are in the majority.
